What Do You Think of This First Aid Kit?
For a 14 year old with crazy friends who shoot a lot of pellet guns and bike and ride horse back?

I'm Diabetic so I take a backpack almost everywhere and won't mind the extra weight...or I could just keep it in the truck or somethin'.
It looks well rounded. I like it; it is a little big, but they are all puffy things, not little blocks of lead, so you could get a smaller bag and put about half the stuff inside of it if it is too bulky.
It is so smart to plan ahead for these things!

also, one of the best things you can do is to take a first aid cpr course at a local red cross. It is a little exoensive and takes a day, but it is such valuable stuff to learn. CPR is good for 3 years, and first aid is good for 1. But even though you may not be certified, at least you were exposed to the information and can use it if you need it.
Kudos for being proactive!
It looks good. I especially like that it includes a first-aid instruction booklet: no point in having supplies you don’t know how to use!
Since you’re diabetic, make sure you clear a space in the kit for whatever additional supplies you need for that.
Looks good. You’re a smart kid. I agree w/the other answer. You could just put some of the stuff in your backpack when you ride.
yes. and always make sure someone has a cell phone. good idea for the 1st aid kit.
WOW is all i have to say or i could say coolio
its got everything wow lol im like excited to look at it !
it definatly covers those activities you guys do and maybe even more ; it looks very nice and any person would want to hurt themselves just for this firstaid kit !
you could probably make one yourself, but this one has just about everything. if you want more advice, my parents were EMT’s, first responders, firefighters, police… all that. i have learned to be prepared, so, you should get that kit, and then, you should get a little bag, like a little travel case, and put normal bandaids in it, duct tape, popsicle sticks (trust me on this) double stick tape, a pair of scissors, a pair of pliars, an extra pair of tweezers, the little pads of gauze (like you get at the dentist for your teeth) clean paper towels, or rags, a bottle of water or 2, and a bottle of ibuprofen. the kit has some of these, but honestly, you probably need more than it has in it. and, i do know what i am talking about. if you have room in your little travel bag, you might want to add a pack of batteries, an umbrella and a flashlight. the smaller the better. if possible, keep this with you. some of this stuff in the case could be used for more than first aid… you never know when you need to duct tape someone’s mouth shut…lol
anyway, dont kill anybody…. unless your friends are going to help hide the body (joking, dont take that seriously)….
have fun!!!

First aid kits are rated and designed based on how many people they serve and for how long. The kit you pointed to is designed for a big group over a long time- big group on a week-long expedition.
You just need a lot smaller kit, probably something custom made.
I think I would go with something like…
TOOLS-
- Few pairs Nitrile gloves
- Good splinter tweezers
- Small scissors (like on a small multi-tool)
- Sharp blade, razor, Xacto blade, scalpel, etc.
- Pencil and notepad
- Pocket first-aid guide
- Small flashlight
MEDS, WOUND CLEANING-
- Glucose tablets or paste for you
- Small bottle of sterile water or saline water, like eye cleanser, to wash injuries
- Alcohol wipes
- Antibiotic ointment, small tube or a few individual packets
- Over the counter pain medication. I prefer aspirin, but with kids I recommend Tylenol.
BANDAGING-
- A couple rolls of 2" roller gauze
- A small stack of 4×4 gauze pads
- A roll of waterproof tape, or at least a few feet
- A small handful of good Band-aids, the 1×3" size. I prefer the fabric ones- they stick better.
- A few of the bigger Band-aids are a nice option
- 2-3 triangular bandages- make your own by cutting light, strong cloth to a 3′x3′ square, then cutting it in half diagonally. Hem if it you want.
- A few eye patches (in case you DO shoot your eye out)
- Moleskin for blisters
With a little work, you should be able to fit it all in a couple zip-locks or a small pouch. Shrink it down even more by splitting things up so each person carries a small zip-lock for stuff for themselves and your group’s ‘first-aider’ carries the shared stuff
